Cuneiform Writing

In class we did this interesting activity. We got the Cuneiform alphabet,There you can see how to write normal letter in cuneiform. We were suppose to write a sentience about ancient Sumerians;first in English than in cuneiform alphabet and after that read our partners.
At first i wanted to write a long sentience so that the teacher can see that i know something but as i started writing it in cuneiform i chose to write:'Cuneiform eventually spread.',it was a little easier to write  that in cuneiform because its shorter.I think it took them a long time to memories the alphabet and learn how to ride because, for me, it was hard writing and even harder to read my partners. All of the letters are made of some kinds of arrows. Now i know why not everybody could read and write, not only because it was hard but it also took a lot of time;so the people that were working as in a farmer,beakers...any one with a job that needed more time couldn't take more time in learning how to read or write. We spelled on paper using a paint brush but than they carved it into a clay tablet.

Hammurabi's Babylonia

Today in class we read this really cool part of a book.It talks about the laws that Hammurabi
coded(written down). It also says that scientists, mathematicians, artist, etc. improved, they evolved;scientists made important discovery's and changes in astronomy;mathematicians archived advances in algebra and geometry and devised numbers;artist made some sculptures of clay, probably started to paint...They also started farming and trading more.
They were better providers of food. They started trading cloths for wood and everything else they didn't had. There economy started growing because of the trading, farming and artists. You see they did have some food and some cloths but for them to exist they had to change the cloths,food,meat....and everything else they had too much of for the things they didn't have enough or at all. There was also more freedom for the slaves and women. The people that woorent crafts people,clerks,farmers....
Some of the laws he coded were fair and some wore. Most of them were persevered killing people or injuring them.I like that Hammurabi gave women and slaves more freedom but compering today and that time period, for now it doesn't seem fair but for than i think the people were happy because they got at least some freedom.

I think if he didn't enforce the roles, laws then we would still maybe be uncivilized people maybe doing and behaving the same way people did before Hammurabi.Maybe just because of him and the things he did while he was the ruler-alive we are the 'civilized' people we are today;maybe because of him we have roads, houses, building, stadiums, artifacts, museums, concquventes..... I'm not saying that if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have electricity or water in out houses,I'm saying if he didn't enforce them we wouldn't have those thing ,maybe we wouldn't,but we couldn't save the artifacts...Maybe it would happen because there would be a ruler after him but if non of the rulers after him did that...we probably wouldn't be here where we are.

Why We Study Human Origins

By: Randall Susman
Calliope:Exploring World History

Article Summary:
The questions people wonder are usually:
-Why
-When
-Where
Did humans evolved and originate?
-How and why did some early hominids(early humans) not survive?
Fossils can help us answer these questions
Fossils can also help us know how early lived, adopted to their surroundings
-They tell us about their physical features and behavior
Fossils are scientific evidence of out ancestors
In the past people believed myths to explain how we evolved
-By observing plants and animals Charles Dowrin developed Theory of Evolution
-Thomas Henry proposed that apes are more similar to humans than to monkeys. But at Durong Dawring and Huxleys time,no humans fossils were found so they couldn't prove their theories
-But in 1925 Raymond Dart found the first hominid fossils in South Africa

How did historians learn about the past?

Historians gathered a lot of sources, than they categorize it:written(documents,newspapers,letters, diaries..) or non-written(fossils, artifacts, tums,monuments...).By evaluating sources they asked questions and time of origin:
Questening a source(the questions asked were):
What kind of source is it?
When was it written?
Why was it written?
Who did it write it?
Where/when was it found?
Time of origin(when was it created):
Primary
Secondery

After that they interpreted sources. After all of that was done and thy were sure that everything they found is correct hey shered their findings.

Where and Why did humans tend to sattle?

i

It was harder to move in the past because the people didn’t have cars,Buses, airplanes, treins….Some people that moved to some place they stayded there forever, some people just for a while.People choese the place they want to live by climate and the surroundings. People have seen it impossible to live individually and have joined together in groups to help them survive. People consume natural resources, kill all the animals and picking the fruit wherever they settled ... so they always went to new places. At some point they would stop moving and that point was when they found a place where they tough they could live there.
I chose the first picture because it reflect how similar people from the past and now are.
The second one i chose because people still do look at the past because its important.

From around the world

I did my project about Novi Sad and New York.I chose to write about Novi Sad because it is the place where i was born and where i lived for 10 years, but than i had to move to Belgrade!Novi Sas was,is and always will be something really important for me.I left my friends, that i knew since i was born, my old school,a big part of my family and it wasn't easy coming here where i didn't know anyone...But you move on!
And New York was the second thing i chose because i would like to visit it or maybe live there some day.And it looks really cool :)
